The Goddess Laumė

Postcard by Lithuanian artist Jurga Creations, 20×20

The goddess Laumė, once Thunder’s wife, was knocked to the ground. It usually appears in the evening, at night. Laumė is related to water – lakes, rivers. She cares for abandoned children, rewards the needy, but cruelly punishes those who try to take advantage of her generosity. Many fairy tales and legends have been created about the fairy.

Jurga Creations- Lithuanian artist, painter, grafic designer located in Vilnius, Lithuania.

“My works are for people who, like me, are fascinated by the mysterious stories that have come down to us from the past and the old gods. For those who are always watching with one eye to see if they see any hidden inhabitants of forests, lakes or caves mentioned in myths and legends; who like to walk quietly in the woods without looking at their phone screens and discover unexpected secrets under fallen leaves and tangled branches. I never miss an opportunity to visit archeological sites or places about which there are rumors and stories, because it gives inspiration for new works. I hope you will have as much fun looking at my work as I had fun creating it.”- says the artist.
