Baltic Sigils

“Baltic Sigils” – it is an oracle game based on the foundations of Baltic culture, which invites you to explore the world of your ancestors and progenitors and at the same time, through signs, to get to know yourself.

This is one possible way to give old symbols a new life in today’s culture, not as museum relics, but as a working language of meaning.

This publication is not an attempt to reconstruct the “as it was”. The sources of the worldview of the Balts are fragmentary, ambiguous, and the meanings of many old signs have been irretrievably lost. Therefore, “Baltiški sigilai” consciously chooses another path: not restoration, but reactivation. Signs are treated here as living models that can act in the present if they are allowed to do so.

“Baltic sigils” is a work of contemporary art, created based on the sources of Baltic archaeology, Lithuanian folklore, ethnology, religious studies, linguistics and cultural studies.

The main premise of the publication is simple but essential: signs were not created for interpretation. Their purpose is action. When a symbol ceases to function, it becomes an archival exhibit—tidy, informative, but lifeless. Life for signs is not supported by definitions, but by practice.

The publication consists of 52 cards and an explanatory booklet of 66 pages, packed in a cardboard folder.
